How to Find Affordable Chrysler Sebring Insurance
Getting lower rates on insurance for a Chrysler Sebring takes avoiding accidents and violations, having above-average credit, being claim-free, and taking advantage of discounts. Shop around every year by requesting rates from direct car insurance companies, and also from your local car insurance providers.
The list below is a brief review of the coverage data raised in the charts and tables above.
- You may be able to save approximately $100 per year simply by quoting online in advance
- Increasing physical damage deductibles can save approximately $200 each year
- Teenagers are charged the highest prices, possibly costing $309 a month if full coverage is included
- Drivers considered higher risk with DUI or reckless driving convictions could be charged and average of $1,040 more annually for car insurance
If you take a look at the recap list, you can see that while it is possible to save money, there are some factors outside of your control. If you are young or have a poor driving record, you will still pay high insurance rates.
How does the size and class of the Chrysler Sebring affect liability car insurance rates?
Before we discuss how the size and class of the Chrysler Sebring affect liability rates, we first need to establish what liability coverage covers. Liability coverage consists of bodily injury coverage and property damage coverage. Both of these coverages are designed to protect you if you cause an accident by paying for the other driver’s property damage and medical bills.
If you don’t have these coverages, you will have to pay out of pocket for the other driver’s accident expenses. You will also be breaking the law, as most states’ laws require every driver to have liability coverage.
As for how the size and class of a vehicle affect your liability costs, it is simple. Size and class affect how much damage you will do to another vehicle. If your car is a lightweight vehicle, it probably won’t do much damage to other vehicles. If your car is heavyweight, it can cause more serious damage and injuries to other drivers and their cars.
The Chrysler Sebring is classified as a midsize, four-door car. All trims and body styles of the Chrysler Sebring will be classified under this same size and class. The size and class are what insurers will look at when they are examining the liability losses (how many claims insurers have paid) for the Chrysler Sebring. So if the Chrysler Sebring has a high loss number, insurers will charge more for liability insurance.

What does liability insurance cost for a Chrysler Sebring?
Now that you understand how liability losses affect prices, we want to share quote rates from Geico. The sample rate we collected was based on a quote for a 40-year-old male driver from Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree. He has a clean driving record, owns his Chrysler Sebring, and travels an average of 13,000 miles a year.
The list below shows how six-month premium prices change for bodily injury liability when you adjust the coverage level.
- Low ($15,000/$30,00): $37.16
- Medium ($100,000/$200,000): $76.16
- High ($500,000/$500,000): $122.61
The upgrade from low to high bodily injury liability will cost about $85. Broken down, this means about an extra $14 per month. This isn’t bad at all. However, you’ll find that the property damage liability costs much more than bodily injury liability, so your final liability bill could be quite high. Let’s take a look at price increases for property damage liability.
- Low ($5,000): $435.25
- Medium ($20,000): $464.05
- High ($100,000): $485.08
The cost of going from low to high coverage is only $50. This isn’t bad at all. Overall, the total cost to go from low to high coverage for both bodily injury and property damage liability is only $135, or $22 a month. This isn’t too bad a price to pay for complete protection if you cause an accident in your Chrysler Sebring.
What are the safety features and ratings of the Chrysler Sebring?
When you shop for a car, it’s important to remember that safety is just as important as looks. Any parent who has bought a car for a teen probably first checks out the safety features and crash rating. Insurers also want to know how well a car will prevent a crash and how well a car will hold up in a crash.
The latest model year of the Chrysler Sebring was in 2010. AutoBlog.com listed the following safety features for this 2010 model year:
- Crash Safety Features: Front-impact airbags, side-impact airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and anti-whiplash head restraints.
- Crash Prevention Safety Features: Anti-lock brakes.
- Anti-Theft Safety Features: Ignition disable device.
The Chrysler Sebring is a little light on safety features, as it is an older car. There are no overhead airbags, collision warning systems, or daytime running lights. Since the Chrysler Sebring has been discontinued, you won’t be able to upgrade to a newer version with these safety features.
The result? Insurers may not offer you as many discounts for a Chrysler Sebring, as it lacks numerous safety features. The good news is that even though the Chrysler Sebring has few safety features, it has a great crash safety rating.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the following crashworthiness safety ratings to the 2010 Chrysler Sebring four-door sedan.
- Small overlap front (driver-side): Acceptable
- Moderate overlap front: Good
- Side: Good
- Roof strength: Good
- Head restraints and seats: Good
Acceptable is the second-highest rating, and good is the highest rating. These excellent ratings earned the Chrysler Sebring the honor of the IIHS’s 2010 Top Safety Pick award. Insurers will take note of this, and they will likely give you a lower rate on car insurance. Watch the video below to see the Chrysler Sebring’s crash test in action.
Having a car that performs well in a crash is important, as cars have more deaths than SUVs or pickups. According to the IIHS, in 2018, there were 48 driver deaths per million vehicles for cars, compared to only 23 for SUVs and 34 for pickups.
The 2018 records for all occupants of a vehicle showed 69 car deaths per million vehicles, which is much higher than the 32 SUV deaths and 42 pickup deaths. The list below shows how many fatalities occurred for various car crashes in 2018.
- Frontal Impact: 7,433 deaths
- Side Impact: 3,568 deaths
- Rear Impact: 834 deaths
- Other (mostly rollovers): 1,303 deaths
The total number of deaths in 2018 amounted to 13,128. This is high compared to total SUV deaths (5,035) and total pickup deaths (4,369). As we stated earlier, though, owning a safe car matters more to insurers than total car fatalities.
What is the MSRP of the Chrysler Sebring?
MSRP stands for the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price. This is the price manufacturers suggest their car is worth before they pass it on to a car salesman. While most sellers will sell a car for less than the MSRP, the MSRP still affects what you’ll end up paying. Higher MSRP prices mean a higher price on the market.
To determine the MSRP of the Chrysler Sebring, we visited Kelley Blue Book’s (KBB) to find car prices. We found that the fair market price range for the Chrysler Sebring is $3,866 to $5,167, but the typical listing price is $4,980. While KBB doesn’t have the MSRP posted, we can expect that the MSRP is a few thousand dollars more than the typical listing price.
It’s important for us to point out in this section that MSRP affects more than just what you’ll pay for a Chrysler Sebring. High MSRP’s also affect your collision and comprehensive car insurance rates. Since collision and comprehensive car coverages protect you if your car is damaged, a high MSRP means more expensive repair parts and higher rates.
While you may be tempted to skip on collision and comprehensive coverages, some lenders will force you to carry collision and comprehensive coverage on your leased vehicle. The lenders don’t want to suffer losses if you wreck. Even if you aren’t forced to carry collision and comprehensive coverages, you should always have these vital coverages.
- What is collision coverage and what does it cover? This coverage will pay for vehicle repairs if you collide with another vehicle or object (like a fence or mailbox).
- What is comprehensive coverage on a car insurance policy? This coverage will pay for vehicle repairs if weather conditions damage your vehicle, an animal runs into your vehicle, or criminals vandalize or steal your vehicle.
While the MSRP affects the rates of these two coverages, insurers will also look at the losses (how many claims are paid for a Chrysler Sebring). If collision and comprehensive losses are high, this means that this car often needs expensive repairs after accidents.
The IIHS’s losses by make and model don’t have losses for comprehensive coverage for the Chrysler Sebring, but the 2003-2005 model of the Chrysler Sebring had a loss of 110. This is high, but the IIHS rated this score as average. So while you probably won’t receive a discount, you won’t be penalized with high collision rates either.
How much will it cost to repair my Chrysler Sebring?
Similar to how the MSRP affects car insurance costs, the repair costs of a vehicle can raise your annual premium. Generally, cars that are vintage, have hard to find parts, or need expensive repair parts will cost more to repair. This means that insurers will have to pay more for your car’s repairs, so they will charge you more to offset these costs.
Because of this risk, insurers will always check the repair costs of your vehicle. To see what insurers may charge, we got a quote from InstantEstimator.com to find out the average cost of repairs for a 2010 Chrysler Sebring. The InstantEstimator.com price tool is great to use anytime you want to check prices before filing a claim with your insurer. All of the quotes below are estimates for level two damage to a Chrysler Sebring.
- Front bumper: $425
- Rear bumper: $459
- Hood: $411
- Roof: $459
- Front door: $403
- Back door: $391
- Fender: $363
- Quarter panel: $375
InstantEstimator.com calculates these costs based on body and paint labor, painting supplies, color ting, hazardous waste disposal, and a final color/sand/buff. The most expensive costs out of this list are body and paint labor. The final color, sand, and buff treatment is the cheapest expense, costing only $20 to $40.
Of course, the exact cost of repairs does depend on the repair shop you chose and the cost to ship parts. Most insurers won’t dig too deep into this research, though, and will depend on average costs like those from InstantEstimator.com to calculate rates. Lower repair cost averages mean that your insurer will charge you less for collision and comprehensive coverage.
